Clan Lamont

"Ne Parcas Nec Spernas"

Clan Lamont is on the of oldest clans found in Scotland. According to legend, the clan is descended from the royal houses of Dalriada in Scotland and Tyrone in Ireland. Pronounced with the Gaelic emphasis on the first syllable, as in LA-mont, rather then the French pronunciation of La-MONT, the name comes from the Norse word 'Logmaor,' which means "law man," or "law giver." In Gaelic the clan name is Laomainn

The Lamont clan motto is "Ne Parcas Nec Spernas," which is latin for "Neither spare nor spurn." What this motto means, essentially, is do not show mercy to your enemy, but do not humiliate him either.
